I remember talking to Jerry about anything and everything. He always had something to share with me, whether it was a newspaper article or something he had read about. We would chat before and after services at Emanuel and he would ask me about my students! Like Adrienne, I was thrilled to see him at our first Share Shabbat Dinner since the pandemic took over! I will miss him but remember him with fondness!

Although we knew Jerry for only a few years a strong bond was forged between us. Jerry was a true renaissance man with a many diverse interests including literature, politics, history and any sports. I personally can attest to his proclivity of views on a wide variety of issues. We will miss his marvelous sense of humor and his warm and personal verbal interactions.
May his memory be a blessing for the entire family.

Jerry was one of the first persons I met after becoming a member of Emanuel Congregation. I was so impressed with his warmth, sincerity, and friendliness. That was in 1985 and to this day I still feel the warmth, sincerity, and friendliness from Jerry. I was so pleased to see him at Temple just a few weeks ago at the Share Shabbat. I’m so glad he felt well enough to attend. He was a gem of a person. A kind man and highly principled. He will long be remembered. Rest in peace, Jerry. My heartfelt sympathy to all of his lovely family.

Jerry lived to talk about history and history books. He shared his love for the subject with my late husband, Philip Arendt. They spent many happy times debating our world situation. May his memory be for a blessing. Shalom
